Limehouse Software Helps City of Plano Produce Important Planning Documents More Easily and at a Lower Cost
New Collaborative Software Allows Multiple Authors to Easily Develop and Revise Performance and Training Documents
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The City of Plano, Texas has selected software from Limehouse Software, the global leader in collaboration, publishing and citizen engagement software, to produce planning and training documents, including the development regulations for its planning department. The software allows city planners and administration staff to work simultaneously on documents online, making editing, formatting and printing easier and less costly.
The city recently implemented the software and has used it to complete the planning department’s CAPER – Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report. The city will also be using the Limehouse software suite for the department’s Comprehensive Plan and a training manual for the Heritage Commission, a group dedicated to the preservation of historic Plano.
Prior to adopting the ucreate™ software from Limehouse, the city used Microsoft Word to produce large documents and plans.
The Limehouse software suite is split into two products, ucreate and uengage™. ucreate is collaborative software that allows a team to work on a single, large document through a Web-based interface and enables them to professionally format and print the document or upload it online, at the touch of a button. The uEngage suite allows for citizen and stakeholder engagement, giving readers a convenient way to respond to the city plan’s ideas using feedback comments, surveys, polls and online forums.
Named in 2006 by CNN Money magazine as the 11th best place to live in the United States, Plano may in the future elect to use the public engagement portion of the Limehouse Software offering. The uengage software would allow the city to quickly and easily get public feedback on any appropriate documents including planning, transportation and training manuals. It allows organizations to post large documents online that can easily be accessed by the public. The Web site can gather public feedback through comments and online surveys.
"The Limehouse Software suite was developed specifically to help government and other organizations to collaborate on large public documents easily and at less cost," said Des Shanahan. "The software has had an excellent reception in the governmental sector, where the development and publishing of documents is crucial."
Both uCreate and uEngage are available as software-on-demand and require nothing more than Internet access and a working email address. They can be used on a wide variety of Web browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.
